About Sassy Swimmers/ Alabama Canine Swimming

What they offer

Sassy Swimmers is a dog swimming service rather than an obedience trainer. Its Pricing page offers swimming lessons: it says it will train with your dog in its warm pool, from getting the dog into the water to learning the steps and safety measures, and that how long it takes to teach a dog to swim varies. Sessions run 30 minutes in the pool, singly or as a package, starting with a single swim or evaluation.

Why owners use it

The home page describes swimming as low-impact aerobic exercise for fitness, weight, recovery after surgery and building confidence in timid dogs. The About page says the service grew out of the owner's own dog's illness, when swimming helped more than other therapy.

Good to know

The site has an outdoor pool in summer and an indoor pool in winter, and requires vaccine records from a veterinarian even for healthy dogs coming only to swim or learn. It publishes an address on Shades Crest Road.
