About Shepherds in training

What they offer

Shepherds In Training is a Rio Rancho dog training business on Waterfall Drive NE. Its specialty is a service dog training program for veterans, also open to retired police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel and other first responders, aimed at help with PTSD, anxiety, mobility challenges and everyday tasks.

Training for every dog

Alongside the service dog work, the trainers teach basic and advanced obedience, leash manners and walking, recall, potty and crate training, puppy socialization, and help with jumping and barking. Training can happen in private in-home sessions or in group classes, and the business prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and the S.T.A.R. Puppy program.

Behavior help

Behavior modification plans cover dogs with aggression toward other dogs or people, working on triggers, anxiety and confidence. The trainers describe their methods as reward-based. Service areas listed include Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Lunas and Bernalillo.
