About Smith River Pet Care

Positive reinforcement training in Hill

Smith River Pet Care LLC in Hill offers dog training, dog walking and pet sitting, and says it has served pets and families in the Newfound Lake region since June 2023. Owner Kristen is an AKC CGC Evaluator with "over 10 years of professional experience in animal welfare, behavior, training, and medical care", including roles as Director of Animal Care and Practice Manager at a shelter and helping open an animal hospital. She uses positive, reward-based training and has a special interest in helping rescue dogs settle into new homes.

Training programs

Small group classes serve all ages and skill levels, from new puppies to advancing dogs. Private one-on-one sessions cover basic obedience and behavior challenges such as leash pulling, jumping, reactivity and fear. The Bootcamp program provides individualized sessions to reinforce skills during the week. Training also covers puppy foundations and AKC Canine Good Citizen preparation, in home and in the community.
