About Solo Pup Academy
Small-group board and train in Austin
Solo Pup Academy is a women-owned, local dog training business in Austin run by Mackenzie Averett, who was born and raised in the city. Her own dog Oliver's four-week board and train got her started about two years ago. The academy works with only two dogs at a time in a calm, structured home environment, offering focused training without the stress of a traditional boarding facility.
Method
Mackenzie uses a balanced approach that combines high praise with reliable methods, reinforcing the right choices while providing structure and accountability. Goals include dependable off-leash recall, calm, distraction-proof walks and reliable everyday manners.
Programs
Freedom & Focus is aimed at owners who want real-world reliability at cafés, on trails and around kids and other dogs. The Puppy Basics package covers socialization, potty training, settling, crate training and leash walking. One-on-one training happens at the client's home or on public outings, with mileage fees. The board-and-train program targets reliable obedience on and off leash, and a free consultation is available.
What to ask
Ask about program lengths and pricing for the board and train and private sessions.
