About Southern Comfort Gun Dogs

Who they are

Southern Comfort Gun Dogs is a Calhoun, Georgia retriever operation that trains personal gun dogs and competes with its own. Its mission statement says the business believes “in teaching and sharing our understanding of dog behavior and training with every owner to create a cohesive team,” which places the owner inside the training rather than outside it.

What they train for

The published work is retriever training for personal gun dogs, for both upland and waterfowl hunting, and training for AKC and UKC hunt tests — which the business also competes in itself. The site's homepage is largely a roll of its own titled dogs, including an HRCH and a GRHRCH with a Master Hunter title, which is the usual way a hunt-test kennel shows its record.

Alongside the training

The site publishes a retriever training page, litter announcements, dogs for sale and a females page, so breeding runs alongside the training work. It also points visitors to book quail hunts at Kingston Downs.
