About Southern Tradition Kennels
About
Southern Tradition Kennels describes itself as "a family-run, full service dog training facility with over 15 years of combined experience," and says on its own homepage that it is "located in Albany, Ga." Its stated approach is to "focus on a dog's natural instincts" and to teach owners to "read and communicate with your dog" rather than to drill the dog alone.
Training
The business runs obedience programs for dogs of all ages and breeds, along with behavior modification for what it calls "a problem dog." Puppy work covers the basics of on-leash obedience plus crate and potty training, and the kennel is explicit that a large part of that work is "teaching the owner how to properly manage the pup." Two specialist lanes sit alongside the pet training: gun dogs, where the aim is to hand back "a finished dog so you can hit the woods/field with confidence," and detection dogs.
Also offered
Boarding kennels are available, and the business occasionally breeds bird dogs to train and sell. Its trainer, Caleb, worked with National Geographic Wild and a client family on the series "Puppy Days," helping them start a new puppy on basic commands.
