About Take The Lead Dog Training
Balanced training in Fort Lauderdale
Take The Lead Dog Training is a balanced dog training business in Fort Lauderdale led by head trainer Tina Alderman. A former MSW clinical social worker, she owned a pet care company in Boston before turning to dogs, and credits Cesar Millan's intensive Fundamentals of Dog Behavior class with shaping her approach. She volunteers at the "Training Cesar's Way Fundamentals" course at The Country Inn Pet Resort in Fort Lauderdale.
Approach
The focus is on calm leadership, consistency and a dog's state of mind, physical exercise and mental stimulation. Training targets calm on command, manners and impulse control, confidence, communication through obedience and body language, and engagement in any situation. Client involvement is treated as the most important part of every program.
Programs
Private training takes place in the client's home, neighborhood or place of business, meeting weekly or biweekly. Day training lets owners drop a dog off during the week, then hands the training over at pickup. Puppy and adult board and train keeps a dog for two to four weeks, followed by sessions in the owner's home.
What owners say
One client wrote that after a few days of work their puppy "was much easier to take for a walk, no more pulling."
