About Taming the Wild

Taming the Wild is a boarding and training facility in Memphis that treats the two sides as one business: dogs board in what it calls lavish suites, and train while they are there.

Training

The published training line-up is board and train, comprehensive obedience classes, sport classes and "personalized one-on-one training to suit your dog's specific needs", with puppy group classes for dogs under fifteen weeks, private lessons for all ages, behavioral adjustment programs for reactive and aggressive dogs, and a five-week introductory agility course. Their framing: "Whether your dog needs help with basic manners or you're interested in more specialized training, our team has you covered!"

The evaluation comes first

Before any of it, every dog is assessed. "All dogs are evaluated to ensure they meet our health and personality requirements. All dogs must complete and pass a first day meet-and-greet evaluation." They are also willing to say no: "This type of open play environment may not be for all dogs, and Taming the Wild reserves the right not to admit any dog based on our evaluation." For an owner with a dog-reactive dog that is useful information up front rather than after a deposit.

Boarding alongside
