About The 5D Dog Training

What they offer

The 5D Dog Training is a positive-reinforcement trainer located in Elma that welcomes students from Grays Harbor, Shelton, Olympia and nearby towns. Training uses treats, toys and praise to reward wanted behavior rather than punishing unwanted behavior.

Behavior help

The trainer addresses complex behavior issues with tailored plans, including identifying triggers, and treats barking or lunging as possible stress responses to fear or anxiety rather than defiance. Coursework in Behavior Adjustment Training, an approach to fear, frustration and aggression that sets up safe situations for dogs to learn, informs the work.

About the trainer

The trainer brings a psychology degree, over 30 years of teaching people and more than 500 hours of dog training experience, including shelter volunteering and work at a training center, and explains concepts clearly with constructive feedback for owners. The site lists class guidelines and what to bring to class.
