About The Art Of K9 Dog Training & Behavior Modification

The Art of K9 is a board-and-train house first. Its own site is built around three residential programs of different lengths, and it is unusually direct about which dog belongs in which.

The three programs

The four-week program is pitched at the friendly dog with manners problems – jumping, nipping, leash pulling, poor impulse control, inconsistent recall – and at owners who want reliable off-leash obedience built from scratch. The six-week program is for dogs with resource guarding, reactivity, people or dog aggression, fear-based behavior or significant anxiety, on the stated reasoning that the extra time is needed to work the underlying behavior and not only the obedience on top of it. The eight-week program is the most comprehensive: advanced obedience, extended real-world proofing, and behavior modification together.

What else is on offer

Overnight boarding for dogs that have been through a program, private training, and video consults are all listed. The site says it takes a limited number of dogs at a time and posts a limited monthly intake.

Problems it names

The published problem list is specific: leash pulling, jumping on guests, not listening outside the home, poor recall, reactivity toward dogs or people, aggression concerns, resource guarding, anxiety and over-arousal, and lack of structure. The training vocabulary includes e-collar work, so this is a balanced program rather than a purely reward-based one.
