About The Dogs Spot

What they do

The Dogs Spot is a board-and-train specialist with a six-step ladder of programs. Puppy Primer (3 weeks) covers sit and down, early leash skills, recall foundation, crate training, bite inhibition and calm engagement. Basic Bootcamp (3 weeks) adds loose leash walking, stay, reliable recall, the place command, polite greetings and door manners. Community Training (5 weeks) adds reliability around distractions and public-environment work. Off-Leash Training (6 weeks) adds off-leash recall, distance commands and distraction proofing. The Elite Immersion Program (6 weeks) runs two structured sessions a day plus daily training outings. A Service Dog Program of six weeks or more covers public access manners and task-specific training. Boarding, a day boot camp and a free training day are also published.

How they work

The published process is five steps: the dog stays with them, gets daily professional training sessions, works around real-world distractions, and then a graduation lesson is run with the owner and family, followed by continued support through lessons and videos. Owners get training updates and videos during the stay. The site is careful about service dog claims, noting that "completion of a training program does not automatically qualify a dog as a legally recognized service dog." Owners unsure whether board-and-train suits them can book a free "Pup Talk" or a free training day first.

Who trains

The founder is named as Kim Hicks. The site states she has earned more than 60 titles in competitive dog sports, including five Obedience Trial Champion titles across four different breeds, and cites over 25 years of professional training experience.

Where they work

The business is based in Ellabell, in Bryan County west of Savannah, and the site markets itself as board and train dog training in Savannah, GA.
