About The Good Dog Training Academy

The trainer

The about page introduces Jenny Lapke as “Owner | Professional Dog Trainer, Karen Pryor Academy – Certified Training Partner,” listing her credential as KPA-CTP. The site credits her with “over 10 years of experience training service dogs through Paws Giving Independence” and with graduating from the Karen Pryor Academy.
Method

The academy states its promise plainly: “to use only the most up-to-date, effective, and humane methods.” It describes positive reinforcement training as “rooted in 60+ years of research and validation” and explains that the approach “relies on giving the learner the necessary information to succeed, while being sure to 'reinforce' desirable behaviors” — teaching a dog, in the site's words, “to enjoy behaving appropriately.”

Who it is for

The home page sorts inquiries into three lanes: raising a puppy, “from establishing potty schedules to making sure your puppy checks all of the socialization & training boxes”; training an adult dog, where the site says “8 months or 8 years, it's never too late to start your dog's training”; and solving behavior issues, addressed with “a thorough training plan designed to support both dog and owner.” Group classes are listed in the site navigation. The stated goal is to provide “Peoria and surrounding communities with the knowledge and skills necessary for creating a well-mannered family dog.” The business lists a Peoria, Illinois base.
