About The K9 Complex

The K9 Complex is an agility and dog-sports venue in Sherman, at the western edge of Chautauqua County. Its own description of itself is short and specific: it "offers agility training, field rentals, classes, and dog sports events for all levels."

What it offers

The teaching side of the business is the FUN-gility series, a four-week introduction to agility described as designed "to introduce dogs and their handlers to the movement, focus, and teamwork behind agility – concentrating on the relationship between you and your dog." Sessions run Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings and are capped at five students. The site is explicit that this is an entry point rather than a competition course, and equally explicit about the prerequisite: dogs "must have basic obedience skills (sit, recall, and ability to focus on handler) and work off-leash." That is a condition of entry.

The rest of the operation

Alongside classes, the facility rents ring time. A second outdoor ring was added for the summer, and handlers booking practice choose Ring 1 or Ring 2 depending on what they want to work on. The business also hosts dog-sports events.
