About The Texas Dogfather
A behavior ranch for complex dogs
The Texas Dogfather is a behavior training and boarding ranch in Cypress, set on 11 private acres under 100-year-old oaks. It focuses on behaviorally complex dogs, including those struggling with aggression, fear, reactivity or social tolerance, and calls itself a sanctuary for those dogs and their families.
Method
The team describes itself as social behavior pioneers and developers of The Family Language training method. All training and caregiving methods are L.I.M.A. compliant, with an emphasis on compassionate, evidence-based and science-backed work focused on social and emotional wellbeing. The team stresses trust, patience and compassion over fast-track or one-size-fits-all training.
The compassion pack
A resident pack of rescue dogs lives on the property and acts as social models for visiting dogs, helping them build social confidence, competence, tolerance and restraint. Behaviorally-aware boarding uses custom-designed living and enrichment spaces.
What to ask
Ask how a typical behavior program is structured, how long dogs usually stay, how owners are taught The Family Language method, and what programs cost. Call (832) 474-9060.
