What it is

Tin Woof Inn Pet Retreat's Ashland campus is one site of a multi-site pet retreat. "The TWI Pet Retreat Ashland campus celebrated its grand opening in March, 2014, since then we have strived to provide professional care that our customers have come to expect at TWI Pet Retreat." The company's own history puts the chain older than the campus: "Tin Woof Inn officially began in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2001. The next generation Tin Woof Inn started in Morehead in 2007. Our success in Morehead led to building and operating TWI Ashland in 2014."

Who owns it

Scott and Gale Templeton, who the site says "are actively involved in the day-to-day operations, marketing and maintenance of all three facilities." Scott "started his professional pet career in 1993 with Petropolis… Over the years, he has designed, built or operated nearly 20 professional pet facilities." Gale "first started training dogs for competition in 1997" and the site credits her with "a total of 16 Agility champion titles" plus qualification "for Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) Nationals and NADAC Champs 10 times," competing "in Obedience, Rally, Herding, Barn Hunt, and Dock Diving."

Services at this campus

Six are listed for Ashland specifically: "CANINE ACADEMY (DOG TRAINING), DOCKDOGS, DOGGIE DAY CAMP, GROOMING, PET LODGING, RETAIL STORE." Training is the Canine Academy; the other campuses at Frankfort and Morehead carry a slightly different mix, with Frankfort adding aqua therapy and performance sport dog training.

Described in detail: "The 10,000 sqft facility has 24-hour monitored alarm service and cameras… Dog accommodations feature indoor/outdoor spaces and come in 2 sizes. These are climate controlled." The site adds music and TV in lodging areas "to help minimize stress with ambient noise," dedicated cat accommodation, and "a fully fenced 2-acre site… with multiple adventure areas and an inground pool with a dock for summer time fun!" For training specifically: "Our climate-controlled training building completed in 2024 features an indoor astro-turf training floor making year-round training experiences comfortable for you and your dog."

"We are a Sanctioned Facility for DockDogs (Dock diving organization). We hold classes and events during the summer season."
