About Upstate Canine Academy – Dog Training Facility

Upstate Canine Academy runs a purpose-built training facility on Corporate Drive in Clifton Park, at the northern edge of the Albany commuter belt. It is one of the largest training operations in the Capital Region by team size: the site is built around a Meet Our Team page rather than a single trainer's biography.

Three ways in

The site publishes three routes and is careful to distinguish them. Private training is conventional lesson work. Board & Train is the residential program. The Foundations Program sits between the two and is the interesting one: the dog is dropped off for daily training during the day while the owner takes private sessions, so the dog builds obedience and the owner learns to maintain it. Every route starts from a free consultation, and the site says the team will match the program to the dog rather than sell a fixed package.

What they say the work is for

The stated goals are addressing behavioral issues, building reliable obedience, and improving communication between dog and owner. The published client accounts describe two- and three-week board-and-train stays for problems including over-excitement around people and dogs, and resource guarding and food-related aggression between two dogs in one household, with weekly written updates from the trainer during the stay.

The facility

Doggy daycare runs from the same building, and returning clients have their own services page. Clients describe the facility as clean and well maintained and the intake as a phone consultation followed by an in-person meet and greet with the head trainer before a program is agreed.
