About Urban Canine

Reward-based training in Montgomery County

Urban Canine offers personalized dog training and behavior consultations for clients in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. Its Maryland service area starts with Gaithersburg and runs through Kensington, Potomac, Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Germantown, Olney, Damascus and Frederick. The site describes positive, reward-based training that encourages a dog's natural capabilities instead of relying on harsh corrections.

Private training

Private sessions are held in your home and packages are tailored to your situation. Topics include puppy essentials such as house-training, socialization and bite inhibition; everyday manners like sit, stay, recall, leave it and loose-leash walking; tricks; and problem solving for jumping, leash pulling, barking, fear, separation anxiety, resource guarding and reactivity. Packages and single sessions are priced on the site.

Puppy Camp

The sleep-away Puppy Camp is for puppies up to 20 weeks, with Puppy Camp 2.0 for dogs 5 to 18 months. Puppies stay with a certified trainer on a fenced 1.5-acre property and work on house training, socialization, impulse control and basic obedience cues.

AKC evaluations

The team can conduct AKC Canine Good Citizen, Trick Dog and Fit Dog evaluations.
