About Urban Pooch Sports Annex

A class-led training and fitness center on North Damen

This is the Urban Pooch Training and Fitness Center at 5400 N Damen Ave, one of two Urban Pooch sites in Chicago alongside the Canine Life Center on N Ravenswood Ave. It is among the most class-heavy training operations in the city, published as a structured roadmap rather than a short service list.

Skills and manners

The core path is a Training Roadmap built on graded obedience levels, with puppy FUN and training at the start and enrichment daycare alongside.

Sport and fitness

The sport side is where the center is unusual: agility classes, K9 nosework, treibball, rally, trick star, dog dance and freestyle, fetch, a Sports & Fitness Academy and a Canine Fitness Program. The site makes the behavioral case for them: "Agility & Sports Classes are a great way to build a shy dog's confidence or to focus your exuberant dog's boundless energy by giving them a job to perform," with agility graded from Puppy Agility through Beginner Agility to Agility II.

Specialty and one-to-one

For dogs who need targeted help, the center lists behavior specialty classes, a dedicated Separation Anxiety Solutions program, private training, drop off training, board and train through the Urban Pooch Academy, and workshops. The Damen Ave location stays open until 8:30 pm on some days, and the group also runs pet retail.
