About Valor K9 Academy
Veteran-owned training in Eagle
Valor K9 Academy is a veteran-owned dog training business in Eagle, at 225 S. Harlan Place, that has been working with Treasure Valley families "since 2014." Founder and head trainer Amy Pishner, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is credited with over 13 years of professional dog training experience and created the VK9 Method. Co-owner Justin Pishner, who brings over 21 years of military service, supports training operations and online course content.
Method
The academy describes its training as balanced and "firm but fair." Dogs start on a slip lead with positive reinforcement such as food, praise and affection. Once a dog understands expectations, and if it is six months or older, a training collar may be added and food rewards faded. After on-leash training, an e-collar is layered in for off-leash reliability when appropriate. Owner education is central: "We train both ends of the leash."
Programs
Puppy training covers potty and crate training, socialization and foundations. Family dog obedience covers loose-leash walking, recall and impulse control. Behavior rehabilitation and service dog training (public access skills and task training) round out the list, delivered as private lessons, board and train or online courses. Boarding is also offered. The academy serves Eagle, Meridian, Boise, Star, Middleton, Emmett, Horseshoe Bend, McCall and Sun Valley.
