About Vero Dog Hero

Personalized training in Vero Beach

Vero Dog Hero is a personalized, positive-reinforcement dog training service based in Vero Beach, run by trainer Harriet McCarthy. It frames training as a hero's journey for owner and dog, built on teamwork, trust and clear communication, with owners learning to reinforce good behavior through rewards and practice.

Programs

Every package is individualized. Puppy training covers socialization, jumping, housebreaking, biting play and chewing. Crate training builds a safe space that helps with transport, destructive behavior, separation anxiety and potty training. General obedience covers watch me, sit and stay, quiet, come, and walking without pulling or jumping, while advanced obedience adds heeling, tricks, door manners, leave it, drop it and hand signals.

Specialty options

Training for Seniors teaches task skills such as get it, bring it, brace, opening and closing doors, fetching medication, keys or a phone, and sound alerts for the door, phone or smoke alarm. Scent Training uses essential oils such as birch, almond and clove with detection-dog methods and is open to dogs of any age or ability, including blind or deaf dogs.

What owners say
