About Vom Faehnrich-Chicagoland German Shepherds

A German Shepherd kennel in Marseilles that also trains

Vom Faehnrich is first a German Shepherd breeding kennel – the site describes itself as "Family and Locally Owned Since 1998," a "Mother-Daughter Team of Breeders" running a small kennel with hands-on interaction, registered with both the AKC and the SV. It also lists a "Professional Trainer on Staff," and carries a full training page, so it is worth knowing about for owners of the breed even if they bought their dog elsewhere.

Training programs listed

The training page sets out six lanes. Puppy Foundations, for eight to sixteen weeks, covers socialization and confidence, crate training and housebreaking, name recognition and basic cues, and leash introduction. Basic Obedience, from four months, covers sit, down, stay, come and heel plus focus, impulse control and leash manners. Advanced Obedience and Off-Leash Control adds reliable recall, off-leash heel, public access work and, in the site's phrase, "E-collar conditioning (if requested)." Protection & Personal Security covers drive assessment, bark and hold, alert on command and handler-protection scenarios, and the page states it is "only available to approved dogs and owners." Service & Therapy Dog Prep covers task training, public access and desensitization, ADA compliance guidance and documentation support. Private lessons and board-and-train options are both available, with progress updates, homework and follow-up support included.

Method and sport

The page describes "positive, balanced training methods that build trust, focus, and reliability," tailored to each dog's drive, confidence and learning style. The wider site also runs pages on conformation shows and on Schutzhund and IGP training, and its news items list placements its dogs have earned at a Schutzhund club – so the sport end of the breed is clearly part of the house culture.
