About Yakima Canine Club
What they offer
Yakima Canine Club on South 2nd Avenue in Yakima combines training with playcare, boarding and grooming. Its training curriculum has three levels: Puppy Kindergarten for puppies three to six months old, Puppy Prep for dogs six to ten months, and General Obedience for dogs ten months and older. Each is a five-week group class, and while group classes are paused the same curriculum is taught through packages of four private sessions.
What the classes cover
Puppy Kindergarten covers focus, general obedience, leave it, stay versus wait, leash walking, recall with distractions and waiting at the door, with off-leash socialization time. Puppy Prep works on drag-leash skills, mouthing, jumping and barking, and heel and front positions with an automatic sit. General Obedience covers recall and leash skills around distractions, stays, waiting at doors and leave it. Owners of very reactive dogs are asked about private lessons first. A weekly puppy day camp adds socialization.
Care
Playcare includes monitored group play indoors and outdoors with enrichment activities and simple cues such as group sits and recalls, and dogs start with an evaluation. Staff complete dog behavior and pack-management training.
