About Your Dog’s Friend

What they offer

Your Dog's Friend is a non-profit in Rockville whose goal is to keep dogs out of shelters by educating and supporting their people. It runs in-person and online classes in four groups: puppy classes, basic skills classes, behavior classes and sports classes, all taught by certified trainers.

Approach

Training is force-free and reward-based, with no chains, prongs or electronic collars. A training coordinator helps owners pick the right class, gives guidance on behavior issues and refers them to community resources.

Free resources

The organization hosts free interactive webinars on understanding and teaching dogs, with recordings of past sessions, and publishes a newsletter with training tips and new classes.
