About TriStar K-9 Obedience

TriStar K-9 Obedience presents itself as a two-market operation – the home page is titled "Dog Training Franklin, TN | TriStar K-9 Obedience" and the banner across every page reads "Serving Dog Owners in the Murfreesboro and Franklin, TN and Surrounding Areas". Its address is in Franklin. Ask for a street address if you need one.

What they claim

The claims are unusually concrete. "Veteran-owned and operated, we provide quality K-9 services and dog training in Franklin, TN and the surrounding area. We have over 35 years of animal experience, and every dog gets hands-on training from the owner." Two numbers are given: "We've pre-trained over 300 dogs in a two-year period!" and "In 2009, we helped Team USA win 20th place in the world competition." Ask who the owner is.

Services

Six pages: general dog training, behavioral training, boarding and training, in-home training, puppy training, and police and executive K-9 training. The working-dog page is the distinctive one – it describes producing "highly skilled working dogs capable of performing complex tasks in high-pressure situations" for "law enforcement agency" units and for "an executive seeking personal protection dogs". Behavioral work is described as using "both positive and negative reinforcement techniques and customized training plans", which is as clear a statement of a balanced method as the site makes.

Access and pricing

Ask about prices. What is published instead is availability: "No-Obligation, Free Consultations", "Immediate Openings", and "Military and First Responder Discounts". The site says phone consultations are available the same day and in-person ones "will be scheduled within a week".

Worth knowing

The long FAQ on the site is generic advice about choosing a trainer in Franklin rather than information about TriStar itself.
