About Puppy Powers Dog Care & Training, LLC

Home-based care and training on Shaw Road, Rockford

Puppy Powers Dog Care & Training operates from 10798 Shaw Rd in Rockford and describes itself as "intentionally different than your typical canine facility." The setting is a home rather than a kennel building: dogs enjoy the home and a secure fenced yard, each has a private sleeping space, and the site says the guest list is kept deliberately small so every dog receives individualized attention.

The framework

The business organizes its training around what it calls the Anywhere Dogs framework, aimed at "developing dogs who can confidently, safely, and calmly exist anywhere life takes them." The site lists its components as real-world environmental exposure, dog psychology and behavioral science, functional obedience and leash literacy, confidence and resilience building, social and environmental neutrality, and relationship-based leadership and handler preparation. The emphasis is on the team rather than the dog alone: "We do not just train dogs. We prepare the human-canine team."

Programs and services

Training comes in three shapes – Individual Lessons, which the site describes as teaching you how to teach your dog; Playdate and Learn, where skills are built through repetition during a structured day followed by coaching so you can continue at home; and Board and Train for intensive daily practice before the skills are transitioned back to you. Around that sit boarding and sleepovers, daycare, grooming, enrichment, field trips, cooperative care and structured socialization. Grooming is framed as training too – nail trims, brushing, ear cleaning and full grooms used to teach dogs to calmly accept handling. On the customer side the site promises no hidden fees or endless up-charges and flexible drop-off and pick-up hours.
