About B&B Canine

Eleven acres in Caledonia, run as a play-first facility

B&B Canine calls itself "a great place for social dogs to stay and play." The site says the property sits on eleven acres with nine separate fenced yards, and that campers are sorted into play groups by relative size and play style rather than simply by weight, spending several hours outside each day when the weather allows. Daycare requires an assessment visit first, and drop-off and pick-up run in fixed morning and late-afternoon windows.

Training, and the method it commits to

The training page states the position plainly: "As a positive reinforcement facility, no leash pops/jerks, corrections, or reprimands will be used in our classes," and retractable, choke, prong and shock collars are not allowed on the property. Classes listed include Puppy Preschool for puppies 8 to 18 weeks, a six-week class the site prices at $135.00; Round One basic manners for dogs five months and up; Round Two, which works toward therapy dog testing around wheelchairs, walkers and crutches; Agility for Fun; Beginning Clicker; and Supper Sniffers scent games. Private lessons are offered for reactive dogs not suited to group work, starting with a one-hour evaluation the site lists at $75.00.

Before you book

The site notes training is on a limited schedule "as our family grows and we strive for work/life balance," and that they will refer to R+ colleagues if nothing fits. Current vaccination status is required – rabies, distemper, parvovirus and Bordetella – along with a negative fecal exam within the last twelve months and flea and tick prevention. Visitors are by appointment only.
