About The Velvet Leash

The Velvet Leash is a pet care service based in Tellico Village, serving Loudon County. It carries a 5-star Google rating from 6 reviews.

What it is

The center of this business is in-home pet care rather than obedience training: walks of 30 or 45 minutes, daily visits, 18-hour and 24-hour overnight care, mobile grooming and small pet care. Training is offered as private sessions covering basic obedience, reactive leash work and behavioral support.

Who runs it

The founder is named as Kelly Wertz, with a published background of twenty years in animal care including "managing a team of thirty at a premier facility" before bringing the service to Tellico Village. The site is explicit that this is not a solo operation: "The Velvet Leash isn't a one-person operation – it's a carefully chosen team of trusted, certified sitters", with no subcontractors and the same familiar faces each visit.

What they publish about standards

Every visit is stated to be performed by a CPR-certified professional, and they say many of the team are veterinary technicians and dog trainers. The business states it is licensed and insured, with 20-plus years of professional animal care behind it. Bookings are by appointment, starting with a consultation.

Who it suits

Tellico Village and Loudon County households wanting continuity of care – the same sitters, in their own home – with light training folded in. For a serious behavior case or a board and train, compare against the dedicated trainers elsewhere on this page; training here is one service among several, not the core offer.
