Overview
About High Country K9, LLC
High Country K9 trains across Nashville and Middle Tennessee, and its distinguishing feature is that service dog work sits alongside the ordinary pet programs rather than being an afterthought.
What you can book here
Seven service lines are published: service dog training, puppy training, private and home training, board and train, group classes, alumni boarding and mobile grooming. Service dog training is specific about scope – "PTSD, Psychiatric Service Dog (PSD) support, and select medical alert tasks" – and the blog names PTSD, diabetes, autism, anxiety and depression as the areas covered. Board & Train runs with "an intentionally limited number of dogs" and a live-in training team working the dog around the clock. Puppy training covers potty training, bite inhibition and basic obedience. Private and home training is the option for owners who do not want to send the dog away. Free group class access is included with training, and alumni boarding is a distinct offer. A free consultation is the entry point; ask about prices there.
What the training targets
The published outcome list is concrete: reactivity and aggression rehabilitation, on- and off-leash obedience, public access and advanced socialization, reliable recall and the place command, and confidence building and anxiety reduction.
Group classes are real and scheduled
Worth knowing if you want a class calendar you can plan around. High Country K9 publishes dates and meeting points in public parks – Sevier Park in Nashville, meeting at the covered picnic tables at the base of the park, and Crockett Park in Brentwood, meeting at the amphitheatre under the flagpole – and runs a calendar of upcoming dates. Video recaps are published for owners who cannot attend.
Method
Stated as balanced. Ask about tool policy, who the trainers are and their certifications.
What clients describe
The testimonial published on the site is a service-dog case, and it is specific: a family who worked with the trainer "from day 1 to ensure the puppy chosen would provide the support needed" for their daughter, with the lessons tailored to an autistic child's learning style. If a service dog is what you are after, that is the closest thing to a reference the site offers.
