About Off Leash K9 Training of Roanoke

Off Leash K9 Training of Roanoke is the Vinton location of Off Leash K9 Training New River and Roanoke Valleys, LLC, which lists three by-appointment locations across the two valleys. The Roanoke address is 2445 E Washington Ave, Suite 102, in Vinton; the other two are in Christiansburg. The business describes itself as "women owned and operated locally" and says it has served the area for six years.

What they train

The published program list is unusually concrete. Basic Obedience runs four private sessions; Basic and Advanced Obedience runs eight, adding advanced commands and distraction work. There is a two-week board and train described as "focusing on practical, everyday obedience", an eight-lesson Aggressive Dog Package described as "Behavior Modification that specifically targets aggression and reactivity issues in your dog", a puppy program in which the puppy lives with a trainer, and six half-hour puppy lessons for dogs between ten weeks and six months. Therapy dog preparation appears in the service menu.

How they work

The site frames the whole system around the dog being reliable without a leash, and says the business specializes in "private lessons, dog behavior modifications, and teaching dog owners to understand why their dogs do the things they do". It states a broad claim about trainability: "We believe that 98% of all dogs can be trained to have amazing obedience".

What to ask

Ask who would train your dog and what certifications they hold; the site describes a team "made up of trainers with varying level of experience and training including shelter volunteers, and even former veterinarian technicians". Pricing is published on a separate plans page rather than in the program descriptions.
