About The Sandhills Working Dog Club

The Sandhills Working Dog Club is a club, not a commercial training business, and it says so plainly: "Sandhills Working Dog Club (SWDC) is an all-breed IGP club in Lillington, NC. SWDC is a full-member USCA club."

Who it is for

"Here at SWDC we are a friendly, welcoming group of dog enthusiasts working together to obtain success in dog sport. We are always open to new members of all breeds and experience levels. Our current members include novice up to experienced trainers who share a high passion for high level sport dog training." That is the relevant detail for anyone weighing it up: this is IGP – tracking, obedience and protection phases – pursued as a sport, and membership rather than a course is the way in.

Who runs the training

The club names Julio Hernandez as its Training Director. Its own page says he "has been a working dog enthusiast for many years", has helped others prepare to compete at local, regional and national level, has competed at those levels himself, and breeds working-line German Shepherd Dogs under the kennel name Kriegshund-Zug. A phone number is published for questions about the club's training.

Where it meets

2835 US 401 S, Lillington, NC 27546. The site carries visit information and an events page; contact the club before turning up.
