About chqdogs

CHQDogs is a Mayville training business whose strapline – "Building Bonds Through Trust and Positive Reinforcement" – is matched by a specific method statement: "Modern, humane dog training in Chautauqua County designed to foster a lifetime of cooperation."

What it offers

Puppy Foundations is the entry course, described as a way to "start a canine companion off on the right paw," where "early socialization and foundational obedience set the stage for a confident, well-adjusted adult dog." Group Classes follow, and the reasoning given for running them in a group is specific rather than logistical: "Learning in a social setting helps dogs generalize skills while building focus amidst distractions." Classes are held at a variety of locations, and the site states that this arrangement still "ensure[s] every participant receives individual guidance from a Certified Professional Dog Trainer." Therapy-dog material and a therapy-dog FAQ are published as well, and booking is online.

What is currently closed

Private behavior consultations are advertised but marked closed: the site carries "*NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW PRIVATE BEHAVIOR CLIENTS*" for the fall. A reader should not plan around that service. Notably, the same notice points readers at another local business by name rather than leaving them stranded.

Method

The published approach is LIMA – Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive – applied session by session, and the business describes its training as customized rather than packaged.
