About The K9 Odyssey Academy

Training academy in Waite Park

The K9 Odyssey Academy in Waite Park aims to create a positive and effective learning experience for dogs and their guardians, built on love and compassion for dogs. Contact is Amie Schwinghammer, and the academy believes guardians need training too, to set realistic expectations and teach their dogs consistently.

Method

Odyssey sees every person and dog as unique and assesses and trains each dog based on what will reach the set goals, following the idea of training the dog in front of you. It teaches guardians to use tools that help guide dogs with care and confidence, choosing among flat and martingale collars, harnesses, slip leads, prong collars and e-collars based on effectiveness and the guardian's approval. Its accountability motto: "If You Allow Them To Shenan, They Will Definitely Shenanigan."

Extras

New adopters from the Tri-County Humane Society can book a complimentary 30 minute training session, and the academy shares tips on nutrition, well-being and dog-friendly places in the St. Cloud area.
