About Katie’s K9 Academy

Good manners on a Hugo hobby farm

Katie's K9 Professional Obedience School is located on a 20-acre hobby farm outside Hugo, MN, at 8089 165th Street North. It specializes in good manners for the everyday family dog or puppy, and the school says dog owners and industry professionals across the Twin Cities have turned to Katie K9 for over 40 years. Katie also hosts a weekly call-in radio show on myTalk 107.1, Sundays from noon to 2:00pm.

Method

The school's motto is "YOU are the treat." Katie relies on verbal and physical praise so the dog works for the owner rather than for food, and she can help owners of treat-trained dogs phase treats out. Hand signals are taught alongside verbal commands, and classes are small and concise, with take-home handouts.
