About The Agile Canine
What they offer
The Agile Canine runs agility and sport dog classes in the Elizabeth and Kiowa area, taught by Heather Cotterman, a canine fitness and performance specialist, agility coach and canine bodywork practitioner. The site says she has trained dogs in agility since 2001 and has represented the United States in international competition.
Classes
The class list starts with the ABCs of sport dog training, an introduction to positive reinforcement games that also help with everyday manners: shaping, targets, impulse control, retrieve and tug. Foundations for Agility courses build jump work, contacts and weaves and then handling sequences, and there are skills tune-ups, beginner-to-champion international coursework and a trial preparation class. Private and group lessons and practices for the Colorado Junior International Team can be booked on the site.
Fitness and online coaching
Canine fitness classes and athlete fitness evaluations focus on conditioning and injury prevention, and the site lists trigger point release bodywork. Online coaching offers weekly live video lessons with a custom plan and homework, covering puppy training, agility, canine fitness and Treibball. Heather holds a Certified Canine Athletic Specialist credential through Colorado State University Pueblo.
