About Phillips Gun Dogs LLC

Gun dog training in Garland

Phillips Gun Dogs is a family gun dog operation in Garland that raises German Shorthaired Pointers and English Cocker Spaniels, trains all breeds of gun dogs full time and handles dogs in tests. Chad, an avid outdoorsman, works full time training the dogs and enjoys developing them into finished hunters. Julie helps raise, care for and socialize puppies alongside daily training and kennel chores, and the whole family, including their four children, takes part.

Training approach

Training covers pointing, flushing and retrieving breeds. The team adapts its methods to each dog, since every dog has its own personality and responds differently to training, and believes in positively developing dogs so they work happily and with style. It limits the number of dogs in training at one time so each dog gets the maximum amount of time. Chad has owned German Shorthaired Pointers for over twenty years, and the family tests its own dogs in AKC hunt tests and NAVHDA testing, offering training and handling for these tests to clients.

What owners say

Client Blake Rollins called Chad "an excellent trainer, meeting requests of the handler and the training needs of the dog."
