About Prairie Fauna Kennels
What they offer
Prairie Fauna Kennels is a training and boarding kennel near Turtle Lake, in the prairie pothole region of central North Dakota. Its companion dog program is a board and train that teaches basic to advanced obedience, focus off leash, a solid recall and house manners, using balanced training: positive reinforcement for new behaviors and an e-collar to proof and maintain boundaries.
Gun dogs
Basic gun dog training covers gun conditioning, eagerness on birds and hunting in front of the gunner. Advanced training emphasizes flushers and retrievers: steadiness to flush, shot or fall, retrieve to hand, handling on blinds, honoring a bracemate and stopping to the whistle. A board and hunt program puts gun dogs on wild birds through the hunting seasons, and the kennel trains and handles spaniels and retrievers for field trials and hunt tests.
Puppies and boarding
Puppy development covers socialization, potty training, place training, basic manners and an introduction to obedience. Short- and long-term boarding is offered in kennel runs or an in-home setting, in temperature-controlled buildings with supervised yard time.
