About Shared Joy Dog Training
Reward-based training in Gloucester
Shared Joy Dog Training and Behavior Consulting is a Gloucester business run by owner Amy Willoughby, a CPDT-KA trainer, AKC CGC evaluator and Fear Free Shelter Certified professional. It offers on-site training for families and animal shelters, rooted in positive reinforcement and reward-based techniques.
Private training
Private training is for dogs 10 weeks and older and takes place in your home, your yard, a local park or wherever the dog is most comfortable, with a custom plan built around the dog and the family's schedule. A free phone consultation of up to 30 minutes is offered first. Amy's neutral dog, Sadie, can join sessions for dogs working on reactivity, fear, confidence or under-socialization.
Adoption help and handler training
Drawing on years of shelter work, Shared Joy helps families research and choose a rescue dog and plan the transition home. Group handler training teaches staff and volunteers at vet offices, boarding facilities and shelters safe handling and training techniques, by appointment on a weekly or monthly basis.
