About Adventure Dog Unlimited
Who they are
Adventure Dog Unlimited is run by Sarah and Kaitlin, both named on their own About page, and the
business's Instagram bio – embedded on its home page – gives its location as Corning, NY. The pair
write that the company began in 2017 when they met working at a doggy daycare, and that between
them they have more than ten years of work with dogs. Alongside training they design and sell
handmade biothane collars and leads, which they ship nationally.
What they train for
The premise is in the name: training aimed at the walk to the coffee shop, the brewery patio and
the trip to the mountains rather than at a formal obedience picture. The site puts it as "we teach
you the skills you need to be able to continue training once we're gone," and the training is
delivered in the client's own home. The intake form names the behaviors they work on – loose-leash
walking, recall, jumping, counter surfing, chewing, house accidents, puppy nipping, leash
reactivity, dog reactivity, resource guarding and crate anxiety, among others – and the training
goals it offers include off-leash adventures, confidence work and coexisting with other animals.
What they do not take
Worth knowing before calling: the training page states plainly that they are "currently not taking
on any severe separation anxiety or aggression cases." Few businesses publish their limits that
clearly, and for those two presenting problems an owner should look elsewhere in the region.
Prices
The menu is short and fully priced. An initial consultation to go over problem behaviors and goals
is $30. A one-hour in-home lesson is $75, and a package of five in-home lessons taken weekly or
every other week is $350. A one-to-one training intensive, in which a trainer collects the dog for two hours
to work a specific goal, is also $75; it runs Fridays and Saturdays only and is open to clients who
have already completed at least two in-home lessons.
Credentials
Kaitlin writes on the About page that she has been working toward Certified Advanced Canine
Training Professional and Certified Canine Training and Behavior Specialist designations through
the Animal Behavior Institute. That is her own account and is recorded as a claim; the Animal
Behavior Institute is not a registry this directory checks, and neither owner appears in the CCPDT
or APDT New York directories.
