About Always Positive Pet Training LLC

Dogs and cats, trained at home

Always Positive Pet Training LLC is a Hollis business specializing in personalized cat and dog training in clients' homes. It is unusual in working with cats as well as dogs, on the view that cats can be trained and their behavior modified.

Method

The business name sums up its philosophy: training should always be a positive experience for the pet and the people involved. It uses only positive reinforcement and never uses force, corrections or physical manipulation, which it says can lead to fear and aggression issues and harm the relationship with a pet. Its training rests on the science of how pets learn: an animal is likely to repeat a behavior when it is followed by a reward the animal finds motivating. The aim is training that is fun, with long lasting results.

Services

Options include training specific to your issues, flexible scheduling and lessons in your home. Owners can choose private lessons, where they learn to train their own dog, or day training, where the trainer teaches the dog for them. Semi-private lessons for you and a friend or family member are available, as are cat consultations and private lessons.

What to ask

Ask about lesson pricing, how day training sessions are scheduled, and the trainer's background.
