About Amity Dog Training

Amity Dog Training works from 202 E. Highland Ave in Shelbyville under the line "Live in Perfect Amity," and describes its aim as "building lasting relationships between you and your canine companion, promoting harmony and understanding."

What they publish

Six programs, every one of them priced. The Basic Obedience Program is "A structured three-week immersive training program" at $1,500 teaching "Sit & Down", "Stay", "Leave It", "Place" and "Loose-Leash Walking (no more being dragged down the street!)". The E-Collar program is the same three-week shape at $2,000 and adds "Here (Recall)" and "Heel". Both carry the same unusual promise: "Infinite free private lessons for the rest of your dog's life!" Day Training is for owners who cannot part with a dog for three weeks – it "allows your dog to receive the same high-quality training offered in our Basic Obedience Boarding Program, but they'll go home with you each night" – priced at "$400/week (minimum 2 weeks)", with a stated prerequisite: "Daycare attendance is required prior to starting day training to ensure your dog is comfortable, confident, and ready to succeed in the program." Overnight Boarding is "$30/ Night per Dog" with daily walks, and Dog Daycare is "$30 per Day", available "Monday-Wednesday *By appointment only", with playgroups "kept small (maximum of 3 dogs at a time)".

On the choice of tools

The business puts the decision to the owner rather than assuming it: "Not a Fan of E-Collars? No Problem!", and then the reasoning: "not every dog needs one, and not every owner wants to use one. That's why we offer a Basics Obedience Program with no E-collar required!" Its own description of what the e-collar delivers is "more freedom" and "reliable recall and off-leash confidence" – that is the business's language for a benefit of one program, not a separate off-leash course, and no off-leash service has been recorded from it.

The trainer

Breanna is described as having met "a local dog trainer who recognized her passion and took her under their wing, guiding and mentoring her for five years" from 2019. No formal certification is claimed and none has been recorded. Her stated belief is "that a well-trained dog is not just obedient but also confident, enriched, and free to experience the world to its fullest."

How it works in practice

Clients are told that consistency at home carries the result: "for best results, owners must continue the training between sessions." The site's own testimonials repeatedly describe daily photo and video updates during a stay.
