About Bark Boss Academy

Training the everywhere dog

Bark Boss Academy is a family-owned dog training business serving Kearns, West Jordan, Taylorsville, West Valley and the wider Salt Lake Valley, along with Park City, Heber Valley and Lehi. Its goal is the "everywhere dog," one you can take hiking, camping, to the park or to farmers markets. Owner and trainer Shannon was born and raised in Utah, head trainer Bailey has a soft spot for service dog training, and trainer Melanie Blackburn brings a background in behavior management for children with severe special needs and has fostered and rehomed dogs.

Training

The main programs are day train and private sessions, built as a personalized plan that includes structured socialization with other dogs under supervision. Training targets jumping on guests, leash pulling, ignoring commands, hyperactivity, excessive barking, fearful behavior, counter surfing, reactivity, separation anxiety and aggression, with the goal of reliable on-leash and off-leash obedience. Other services include puppy training, service dog training, therapy dog training, emotional support dog training and AKC Canine Good Citizen. A free behavior assessment is the first step.
