About Birch Valley K9
A large-property board & train
Birch Valley K9 trains dogs on a 16-acre property in the Dayton area (Washington Township / 500 Silvercrest Terrace), citing "over 20 years of combined experience." The model centers on immersive, facility-based training: the site highlights multiple in-home scenarios, obstacle courses, hiking experiences, and exposure to other animals as part of how dogs are trained on the property. The team is described as small — the same people who answer the phone provide the care.
Programs
Four core offerings are listed: Board & Train (for dogs older than six months, combining deluxe boarding with training sessions), a two-week Puppy Course (ideal for pups six months and younger), Daycare, and Boarding for extended stays. The site describes a "two-fold approach" using "tried and true methods" and real-world scenarios, with emphasis on the owner also understanding the how and why of training — not just the dog being trained. Listed problem areas include anxiety, chewing, puppy biting, and digging. No specific certifications are named. Owners start with a free Meet & Greet. Contact is (937) 993-9651 / (937) 546-4134. Best suited to owners who want an immersive board-and-train on open acreage rather than weekly classes.

We have a very big, energetic 3yo berner who thought rules didn’t apply to him no matter how hard we tried and he truly didn’t realize his size. The minute we arrived to have an introduction and understand the process, our dog was all over the place with excitement and Allie, who had never met him before, immediately got his attention and found a way to make him focus and listen. From that point on we were sold.
Throughout the few weeks of board and train, we received training updates and videos and came to visit so we could see the progress and be taught ourselves. The key thing to take away was never stop training. We’ve been home with our newly trained and very well listening pup for a few months now and continue to utilize everything Allie and Tommy taught us. It is truly night and day with how we experience walks, people in the home, feeding time, and any other fun activity that we’d usually have concern about with our dog being a little “too much” or not listening. The best part is, he is still the same goofy giant that he has always been, but with a little more grace when it comes to listening and being a truly “good boy”.
Also, we live in Cincinnati and they helped make trips down to our home to help him in action training in the home and his own space, while taking him back to Dayton to finish the training. Very convenient for everyone and made it a truly trusting and wonderful experience. If you are wondering if it’s worth the time and money, let me tell you, it 100% is!!
