Reservation-only boarding on Roy Road

Black Bayou Boarding is a reservation-only daycare and boarding facility at 8802 Roy Road in Lake Charles, owned by Taylor and locally owned and insured since May 2017. Every guest passes a behavior assessment and a trial daycare day. Dogs play in a 7,000 square foot fenced yard with a stock tank pool, small dogs have their own area, and guests rest in air-conditioned, heated kennels with round-the-clock care. A daycare bus service is also offered.

Training

Group classes are taught by trainers from Bayou Pawsitivity, and cost $155 for five weekly sessions. Puppy classes for 12 weeks to 5 months cover sit, down, leave it, loose leash walking, potty training, puppy biting and crate training. Level 1 for dogs 6 months and up adds drop it and place and addresses jumping and counter surfing; Level 2 adds stay, heel and center and prepares for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test; Level 3 prepares dogs for therapy work. Classes call for a buckle collar, head halter or harness. Hybrid training pairs daycare with one hour of training for $300 per week, and board and train costs $1,200 for a two-week minimum plus $600 per extra week. Private lessons and board and train can also be booked through Bayou Pawsitivity.
