About Black Hills K9 LLC

Pet and working dog training in Edgemont

Black Hills K9 LLC is a veteran-owned dog training business in Edgemont, in the southwest corner of the Black Hills, serving Rapid City and the surrounding area. Owner and master dog trainer Tim Eick founded it in August 2021 after more than 11 years of Navy service, where he first worked around military working dogs. He credits himself with over 15 years of dog training experience and completed the six-month Master Dog Trainer program at Highland Canine Training's International School for Dog Trainers in 2022, graduating with honors.

Programs

For pet dogs, private lessons meet once a week and range from basic obedience to complex behavior issues, and board and train programs last three or six weeks with on-leash and off-leash options. The business takes on dogs deemed aggressive or "too problematic," drawing on a background in behavior analysis and behavior modification. Working dog services include decoy work, detection dog training, single and dual purpose K9s, and consulting for law enforcement and military K9 teams, plus search and rescue dogs.

Pricing

Private lessons start at $1,000, and behavior modification training starts at $1,500 or $2,000. Discounts are 10% for military, veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs and search and rescue, and 5% for multiple dogs.
