About Canine Consultants & Pet Supply
Training and pet supplies since 1989
The Canine Consultants, at 17th and Van Dorn in Lincoln, combines dog training with a pet food and supply store. It was established in 1989 by owner and head trainer Trevor Bassen, who earned his Master Trainer's Certificate from the Colorado Dog Academy in 1986 and is credited with 37 years of experience and over 80,000 lessons taught. He works with any dog, of any breed, of any age.
How lessons work
Every client begins with a private $50 half-hour initial lesson to identify problem areas, interests and goals and set a personalized course of action. Most owners continue privately, since 80% of the training is described as relationship-based: private lessons are $50 per half hour or $100 per hour, and owners typically need 8-10 private lessons, though many need only 3-5. Once a dog knows basic commands and handling, owners can join group lessons, which meet three times a week, at $25 per lesson or $150 unlimited. Classes run Monday through Thursday from 2:00pm to 9:00pm, and owners can start at any time.
The store
The shop stocks over twenty brands of pet food plus treats, chews, kennels, leashes, collars, supplements and pet beds, and is open seven days a week.
