About Canine Training Services

What they offer

Canine Training Services is a home-based Tacoma company that trains dogs in the owner's home and neighborhood. Its services include basic obedience, service dog training, protection training and canine rehabilitation for scared, nervous and aggressive dogs and dogs with trauma. Training runs once a week in a set time slot, and sessions are paid one at a time rather than in prepaid packages.

How they train

The trainer adapts methods to each dog and draws on applied behavior analysis, a flexible group of behavior modification techniques.

About the trainers

Elliott Briggs worked in clinical psychology and applied behavior analysis with children before moving into dog training, earned a doctorate in animal behavior analysis, and serves as a search and rescue canine unit operator. His wife Mika, who also has a behavior science background, assists him.
