About Cedar Creek Kennels LLC

A police-K9 school in Monmouth that also takes pet dogs

Cedar Creek Kennels publishes the phone number 309-734-6528 and a menu of Home, About, Police K9 Training, 2025 Course Dates, Obedience Training, Boarding and Contact. Its center of gravity is clearly law enforcement. The About page says "CCK was founded in 2019 out of our deep passion for training police service dogs" and lists the range as "green dog selection, trained single and dual-purpose canines for narcotics and explosives detection, as well as obedience training, pedigree dogs, and boarding." The training pitch is scenario-based: the site describes "a low student-to-instructor ratio" and "scenario-based training, rooted in real canine deployments from our own experiences and those of other handlers."

Who teaches

Two people are named on the About page. Matt Greenlief is listed as Director of Canine Training and Operations; the site credits his law-enforcement career as beginning "in June 2006 with the Warren County Sheriff's Office in Monmouth, Illinois," his certification as a canine handler in 2007, a second multi-purpose handlers course and a ten-week canine trainers course in 2015, and a 2019 appointment as Canine Odor Recognition Assessor for the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. Dave Wynne is listed as Director of Law Enforcement Operations and described as a "Law enforcement officer for 21 years with the New South Wales Police Force (AUSTRALIA)" who completed that force's general purpose dog course in 2009. The site credits the two of them jointly with "over 60 years of combined experience in training and handling K9s."

What a pet owner would actually book

Obedience Training and Boarding each have their own menu entry; ask what the pet-side program involves, when it runs and what it costs. A client quote on the homepage about a reactive cattle dog mentions "2 weeks of being in Cedar Creek's board and train program." Almost every other testimonial is from a deputy or officer describing multi-day tracking courses, several of them from out of state. A pet owner should call and ask specifically what the non-police side of the business looks like.
