About Certified Canine Services

What it is

Certified Canine Services Inc. is a family-run training and boarding facility at 8166 State Route 3, Pulaski, NY 13142. Its own footer gives its catchment in two lines: "family run obedience camps & training for dogs in Syracuse, Watertown and Oswego", "Serving Onondaga, Jefferson and Oswego Counties and Central New York State". The site says the business has been "doing it for more than 25 years", and elsewhere refers to "over 30 years of dog handling and training experience."

The programs

The published program list is Obedience Camps, Service Dog Training, Therapy Dog Training, and Evaluation & Puppy Programs, with boarding alongside. The camps are residential and run at the facility: "Our camp-style programs near Watertown, Oswego, and Syracuse, NY, offer owners and their dogs personalized training catered to the dog's individual needs, personality, behavioral issues, and the owner's goals."

How they describe their method

The site frames obedience as a shared language rather than a list of commands: "At Certified Canine Services, we view obedience training as a vital language between you and your dog. When mastered, this language allows you to express what behaviors you want from your dog and, importantly, those you don't." Their published benefits list includes "Balanced Training Methods For Better Learning", "Customized Training Programs" and "Expert Team of Canine Specialists". They also say they recognize "six distinct personalities found in dogs" and adjust the work to each.

Travel and extras

Because dogs come from a distance for the camps, the business arranges transport: "Our team can arrange safe pickup and delivery, making it easy for owners outside the immediate area to take advantage of our training services", with a staff member accompanying the dog. They list regular travel from New York City, all of New York State, Massachusetts, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. They also offer pet wedding attendants, with pricing that "starts at $300."
