About Golden Hour Dog Training

Who runs it

Golden Hour Dog Training is Emily Moore's business, and the site is written in her own voice. She describes herself as "the trainer behind Golden Hour" and says she and her husband "have been living in Hastings, NY now for over 8 years" with three children. The name comes from her own dogs: "Golden Hour is dedicated to the golden's in my life that have shaped and inspired me to do better, BE better, for the sake of all dogs." She lists herself as CCDT certified. She has also written a children's book, To Love A Dog – The Golden Way.

How the training is structured

The program is laid out in three steps: a free 30-minute phone consultation, an in-home assessment, and then a plan. Three plans are published with prices. Foundations, described as the core program, is four lessons at $595. Focus, "designed for one specific goal", is three lessons at $475. Follow Up, "support for when you need it", is a single lesson at $165.

Virtual lessons

Virtual sessions are offered over FaceTime or Zoom at $40 for 30 minutes and $80 for 60 minutes. The site says these suit "puppy questions, foundational skills, household manners, training-plan check-ins and many common behavior concerns", and that each full lesson includes personalized homework and follow-up support.

Method

The stated approach is positive reinforcement: "We prioritize positive reinforcement techniques due to scientific research proving they're most effective, with the result of trust, confidence, and cooperation that's built to last." The mission statement describes a judgment-free philosophy open to "dogs of all breeds, ages, and backgrounds".
