About Champion K-9 Dog Training
What they offer
Champion K-9 Dog Training, run by a trainer named Rick out of Xenia, Ohio, frames itself as a company that "helps dog owners live a quality life with their dogs." Two main programs are described on the site. Private training sessions are one-on-one work with the dog owner and their dog to accomplish what's needed for both to live well together. The Boot Camp program is a board-and-train where dogs stay on-site and Rick lays the training foundation, after which he works one-on-one with the owner to bring them up to speed on maintaining and growing the dog's training.
What owners say
The testimonials page features owners of higher-energy and large breeds. One credits Rick with teaching them to handle a hyperactive young Pit/Boxer mix, noting his methods and knowledge helped shape the dog's behavior. Another, with English Mastiffs, says Rick gave them the tools to enjoy their dogs both at home and in public, and that they regularly get compliments on how well-behaved the dogs are.
The site lists a Xenia address (2645 Kingman Drive) and contact details. It does not state a specific training philosophy, certifications, or years in business, so those are left unconfirmed.
Behavior modification for unwanted or problem habits.

Rick provided a detailed explanation of his training program and clearly set expectations for our dog before, during, and after training. We chose his board-and-train program, and the outcome was phenomenal. Our GSD puppy came back a completely different dog—very well-behaved and, for lack of better words, full of manners. We continue to train with Rick at home to build on our dog’s training, and he has made himself readily available whenever we have questions or concerns. He always responds quickly and in a timely manner. We now truly consider him part of the family.

Rick was amazing! He is extremely knowledgeable and has a tremendous amount of experience. He trained our Black lab and golden retriever mix and our chihuahua and Dachshund mix. Our dogs before training were barking endlessly while at home and we didn’t know how to reel them in. After training with Rick, both of our dogs are much more comfortable with themselves and our home is much more peaceful. We appreciate everything Rick did for us and would recommend him to anyone! Champion K-9 is the best place for your dog to train.

Rick is a stand up guy and an incredible dog trainer. My wife and I had Rick take and train Biscuit our 185 Lb English Mastiff puppy. Rick refers calling him The Big Guy. My wife is a small lady in stature and Biscuit being a big puppy was dragging her down the street. Biscuit was also bullying her. Rick solved this problem immediately. Biscuit absolutely loves Rick. That’s very apparent as when Rick walks into the room Biscuit can’t take his eyes off him. Tail wagging and he is truly attentive to Rick. I think Biscuit loves Rick more than anyone. Rick has achieved the following: Biscuit no longer barks in his crate, Biscuit no longer barks at other dogs, Biscuit is very well behaved out in public, Biscuit no longer pulls on his leash, Biscuit is treating his little brother (Great Dane puppy) with kindness and respect. Biscuit has started being the pup that my wife and I have been looking for. My wife can take Biscuit out for walks and to businesses that are dog friendly. Biscuit is truly a very well behaved dog, very friendly, very sweet, and wants to please. Rick has done an amazing job! It is my belief that Rick is not only a terrific dog trainer but has become part of our family. Thank you Rick, you’re a awesome trainer, amazing person and a true friend. Danny Woods.

Rick was wonderful! He helped us turn our two energetic obstinate labradors into the well behaved dogs that are a pleasure to have around. He helped us work through several problem areas such as calmly greeting people and staying within our backyard boundaries. Rick was always prompt to respond to texts and was flexible about scheduling training. He answered any and all questions we had. If you want your dog(s) to behave, call Rick!!

Training my dog with Rick was a positive and rewarding experience. He tailors his training to exactly what you want to accomplish for your specific dog. His training method is both straightforward and achievable, allowing you to start with simple goals and working your way up to bigger goals. He gives you the tools necessary to work with your dog on your own time. The success you achieve with your dog starts with Rick, but the owner must do their homework and stay consistent with training. Most importantly, as a busy mom, I appreciated the convenience of Rick coming to my house for training sessions.
